About the Housing Portal

One place for grants, rental housing and advice. Run by the Housing Department of Vltava Region.

The portal in numbers

Figures for 2025. Like everything else on this site, they are made up.

  • 12 400 households supported
  • 1.8bn CZK in support distributed
  • 43 municipalities involved
  • 2011 the year the portal launched

What you can do here

The four most common reasons people come to the portal.

How the portal came about

The regional authority building with a light grey facade and a green cornice.

Three agendas in one place

Until 2011 the department ran three separate websites: one for grants, one for rental flats and one for methodologies. The forms on them were of different vintages and nobody could tell which one was valid. The portal merged them, and since then every document has one valid version and a clear effective date.

The portal is run by the Housing Department of Vltava Region. The editorial team is four people from the department who write the content alongside their normal work – which is why the whole portal is built so that changing a text or a document takes minutes rather than a purchase order.

Households, municipalities and owners' associations

Each group is looking for something different, which is why the portal has four entry points instead of one long index:

  • Households most often need to work out what they qualify for and submit an application.
  • Municipalities come for methodologies, model contracts and call deadlines.
  • Housing cooperatives and owners' associations deal with support for renovating shared parts of a building.
  • Journalists and councillors look for figures and annual reports.

Anything not covered on the portal is handled by the advice centre. You can send a question anonymously – an e-mail address is only needed for the reply.

The demo uses a placeholder public video. On a real site the editor pastes the address of their own video into a single field.

Frequently asked questions

About the portal itself – questions about grants are answered on the home page.

Who decides what gets published?

Content is prepared by editors of the Housing Department. Publication is approved by the content approver, who sees who proposed each change and when.

How often is the content updated?

News is added continuously; methodologies and forms whenever the rules change. That is why every document shows its version and the date it takes effect.

Can I use the portal in English?

Yes. The CS / EN switch is in the header. The English version has its own page addresses and its own copy of the calculator.

What should I do if I find a mistake or a broken link?

Write to the portal administrator – the contact details are on the Contacts page. We also check links automatically on a regular basis.

Are the figures on the portal real?

No. The portal is a demonstration: the programmes, figures, documents and contacts are invented and the authority shown does not exist.

Useful links

Where the portal points most often.

A note on the demo: two links in the list above are deliberately broken.

They are there to show the broken-link check in the back office – the editorial team can have the text of every page checked at any time and sees which links stopped working, what page they are on and in which field. On a real site they would simply be fixed.
